A Story of Transformation

Clinicn

Cristian Alexander Ramirez was born in November 2011 with bilateral clubfeet. Cristan had his first visit to the Clubfoot Clinic in Santa Ana on January 24th, 2012. His mother Claudia Montes de Ramirez took him to the clinic with the expectation that this precious child receive a treatment for his condition. Cristian had his first cast that day and it was explained to her that he had to go through a series of casts. During that year he received several casts in order to correct his feet condition. Cristian tolerated the casts so well and after all of them, he finally had a tenotomy performed by Dr. Hernandez on January 10, 2013 (this took longer because mother did not take him every week, she took him every two weeks or more sometimes). When the last cast  was removed, he was fitted with his first braces on April 23, 2013 that he wore full time for three months. The braces have been adjusted in the follow-up visits as he grew, so he never had a problem with his compliance in wearing them. Cristian continues with the check-ups at Santa Ana Clinic with his last checkup on May 6, 2014 and his treatment continues to be a success. Cristian enjoys all the typical activities of two and a half year-old: running, jumping, playing soccer, etc. Cristian will not remember any of the discomfort during the process. For Cristian and his mother the Ponseti Method treatment, help and counseling received at On His Path clinic mean hope after the confusion and upset of knowing his condition at birth. Cristian’s mother is so thankful for the help received because for many parents in that same situation, it is not financially feasible to provide a treatment for their children. Ana Maria Marroquin – On His Path Counselor at Santa Ana Clinic comments: “We can say that we are thankful to God to see how Cristian’s family had the opportunity to see him walking. We know that Cristian Ramirez will be a normal kid and he will be able to take the opportunities ahead and he will have a great future.”
